Virtual Reality (VR) Guides & Troubleshooting: Black Screen

Black Screen

Here are the step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot a black screen issue on your Meta Quest headset:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

  1. Check Proximity Sensor: Ensure the proximity sensor on the headset is not blocked by anything. Clean the sensor if necessary.

  2. Hard Reboot: Perform a hard reboot by pressing and holding both the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the boot screen appears.

  3. Charge the Headset: Make sure your headset is fully charged. Plug it into the charging cable and wait for a few minutes before trying to turn it on again.

  4. Inspect Charging Cable: Check the charging cable and port for any damage or debris. Clean the port and try a different cable if available.

  5. Factory Reset: If the above steps don't work, perform a factory reset. Press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons until the boot screen appears, then navigate to Factory Reset using the Volume Down button and confirm with the Power button.

  6. Update Software: Ensure your headset and the Oculus app are updated to the latest software version.

  7. Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact Meta Quest support for further assistance.

Additional Tips:

  • Soft Reset: Try a soft reset by holding the Power button for about 10 seconds until the headset restarts.

  • Check for Updates: Regularly check for software updates to ensure your device is running the latest firmware.
