Memrise is a British language platform that uses spaced repetition of flashcards to increase the rate of learning. Memrise offers user-generated content on a wide range of other subjects. The Memrise app has courses in 16 languages and its combinations, while the website has many languages available.

Memrise is utilized in SPAN 1010-01 and SPAN 1020-02 as a vocabulary practice source at Sheridan College.

Language Transfer is a free app that relies completely on donations. This app primarily focuses on grammar by teaching you how the language works then having you dissect the language to its tiniest pieces before using those pieces to build sentences. Therefore, the lessons are always full of mental exercises (the Thinking Linguistic Method). The Linguistic Approach encourages you not to memorize or take notes. However, responding out loud will help you retain what you are learning. It is a classroom-style and the teacher always has a student (a volunteer student). Although this sounds kind of dry, the lessons are quite engaging. The length of each lesson varies, from 5 to 15 minutes.

These lessons are used in SPAN 1010-01 and SPAN 1020-01 courses as a discussion source, students listen to a couple of lessons throughout every week and bring the highlights that stood out for them.

Conjuguemos makes learning verb conjugations in Spanish, French (+ 7 other languages) easy with drill practices and fun multi-player games.

Constant practice in the Conjuguemos website is encouraged in SPAN 1010-01 and SPAN 1020-01 courses to reinforce vocabulary and/or grammar.
